Project Description
The project concerns the construction of a new unified two-storey structure comprising two independent, fully furnished residences, situated on a plot within a traditional settlement.
Each residence is organized as a maisonette, with internal circulation between ground floor, upper floor, and auxiliary basement areas.
The ground floor of each dwelling accommodates the main living areas, including a living room, kitchen, one bedroom, one bathroom, and a storage room. The first floor comprises two bedrooms, an additional bathroom, and a secondary sitting area. Vertical circulation to the private basement level is achieved through internal staircases, offering direct access to auxiliary spaces.
The architectural composition unfolds across two main levels—ground floor and first floor—while the roof is formed by horizontal reinforced concrete slabs placed at varying elevations, creating a dynamic volume and enhancing the overall architectural expression. These slabs are not designed for access/use.
The building integrates harmoniously with the natural terrain, responding to the site’s topography. The variation in ground levels across the residences generates differentiated heights and volumes, defining the character of each façade.
The use of flat concrete roofs references the traditional Cycladic vernacular, while simultaneously serving functional needs, ensuring continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces, and reinforcing the building’s relationship with its context.
