Project Description
The project involves the construction of three ground-floor residences with pools in Paros.
The residences follow a similar design, each comprising an open-plan living area (living room-kitchen-dining area), two bedrooms, and three bathrooms. Natural and locally sourced materials are applied to all exterior surfaces of the buildings to ensure seamless integration with the surrounding environment.
The architectural composition stems from the need to meet contemporary living requirements while respecting the traditional architecture of Paros. The volumetric development of the complex follows a cubic form with varying levels to break the mass into distinct volumes, aligning with traditional design principles. The monolithic architectural style with elongated window openings is seamlessly incorporated.
The sloping surfaces of the canopies, combined with the diagonal vertical walls, create an architectural dynamism between the individual volumes. The result is a complex interplay where random diagonal walls cast irregular shadows while ensuring privacy between residences. In this way, the inclinations on the building’s façade become a defining feature.
The solid façade does not emerge from any rational process but instead conveys the spontaneous and sculptural nature of traditional island architecture, pointing towards a Cycladic Modernism.
This distinct movement extends to the surrounding landscape, where rows of irregular planters, avoiding straight lines, facilitate the fusion of the built environment with the natural terrain. Additionally, the sloped façade gradually descends towards the water features of the terraces, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces.
